At Produce Made Simple, we love fresh produce, so it’s only right that our home is at The Ontario Food Terminal (OFT). Based in Toronto, the OFT is vitally important to the distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables and has been supporting the “Buy Local” movement since 1954. Can you believe that roughly 5.5 million pounds of produce is sold through this facility every day!
In the early hours every morning, the Ontario Food Terminal is a buzzing distribution hub for the trade of fresh produce and flowers en route to local fruit and vegetable stores. This includes our independent and chain supermarkets, retailers, restaurants, food service, caterers, farmer’s markets, florists, garden centres, convenience stores, and more.
The OFT serves buyers all over Ontario, Atlantic Canada, Manitoba, and Quebec, as well as the Northeastern USA. It’s the largest wholesale fruit and produce distribution Centre in Canada, and the third largest in North America after New York City and Los Angeles. Its cold storage is over 100,000 square foot! Having recently completed a modernization update to its infrastructure, the facility is now even better equipped to support our local food demands.
Produce Made Simple is an educational campaign managed by the Ontario Produce Marketing Association, whose offices are based inside the OFT.
