These Teeny Tiny Smuccies™ are bursting with delicious flavour! If you own a waffle iron, this recipe delivers an authentic result.  Make these mini waffles ahead of time and freeze for a quick, reheated breakfast treat.

6 full sized waffles (or 12 mini waffles)

Teeny Tiny Smuccies™ BELGIAN WAFFLES

  • Waffle Batter:
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 2 tbsp. melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 ½ cups homo or 2% milk
  • Garnish:
  • 2 cups Teeny Tiny Smuccies™ (whole or sliced)
  • ** serve with maple syrup


  1. Sift dry ingredients together into a medium sized bowl, making a well in the middle. Add egg yolks, milk and melted butter or oil, mixing gently until combined. In a separate bowl, whisk egg whites until stiff then fold into the batter until blended.
  2. Preheat waffle iron.
  3. Using a ladle, spoon batter into center of waffle iron and close lid. With each waffle, the timing will become evident (2-3 minutes). Top each waffle with Teeny Tiny Smuccies™ (plus berries of your choice) and drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
