Grilled Ontario Mushroom Shawrma

Earthy, smoky, and packed with bold Middle Eastern-inspired flavours, this Mushroom Shawarma is a delicious twist on the classic street food favourite. A mix of local oyster, portobello, and cremini mushrooms is marinated in warm shawarma spices, grilled until beautifully charred, then sliced to mimic shaved shawarma meat. Tucked into warm pitas with crisp vegetables, tangy pickled turnips, feta, and a creamy garlic-tahini sauce, it’s a fresh and satisfying meal that’s hearty enough to win over even the most devoted meat lovers. Best of all, Ontario mushrooms are grown locally year-round, making this an easy and flavourful way to enjoy local produce any season.
